Course Topics

The Kanban Method encompasses six core practices essential for optimizing workflow and enhancing productivity. Firstly, visualize the work and its flow, making it easy for everyone to see the current status and progress. Secondly, limit work in progress (WIP) to focus on completing tasks rather than starting new ones, promoting efficiency. Next, manage flow by identifying and addressing obstacles that prevent smooth progression of work. Additionally, make policies explicit by defining and communicating agreed-upon policies clearly for everyone involved. Establish regular feedback loops to provide guidance and continuously improve the process. Lastly, improve collaboratively and evolve experimentally by fostering a culture of continuous improvement using the scientific method.

Here are three change management principles to guide you: First, start where you are. It’s essential to understand and accept the current state before implementing any changes. Second, agree to pursue evolutionary change. Embrace the idea of gradual, continuous improvement rather than seeking abrupt, disruptive transformations. Lastly, encourage acts of leadership at all levels. Empower individuals at every level of the organization to take initiative and lead change efforts.
